I am set to do a 1/2 marathon on September 6. As part of our training we are set to run 12 miles on Saturday. My fear is that this will make my injury worse. My injury is a hip flexor strain in the psoas. It was not caused by the running I've had this for some time, like a year, but no one could pin it down until recently.
I have already decided not to bike on Sunday. And I've cut out all biking for the last few weeks.
I can
a)run the 12 miles with a slower pace group
b)run the 12 miles with my current pace group
c)do a or b and simply get picked up by a SAG vehicle at mile 6 or mile 8
d) go to the run and hand out water, basically not run
e) go to the run and hand out water, not run Saturday, but do a 6 mile on Sunday instead.
If I opt for d) I still need to gear up to do the 13.5 miles on September 6 so I would run 3 mile runs during the week, maybe a 6 mile run somewhere in there.
I raised my money for this 1/2 marathon and my goal is to run this but getting there in the next 2 weeks is going to be a challenge.
