Need to decide tonight- size S or M shorts?

The group I ride with is ordering kits... and if I want to get one, I need to decide, right now. I don't absolutely have to get the kit, and I could just order the jersey.... but it might be nice to have.

    Problem- what size shorts?
The brand is Sugoi (pro fit).
    The size chart says:
    S- waist 27, hips 36
    M- waist 29, hips 39

My waist is 28 on a good day, and my hips are 36 (size 6 petite in regular clothes). My other shorts (Shebeest, Giordana, Performance) are M, but at the Performance shorts feel too big now and I hardly ever wear them. (I've lost a lot of weight over the last year, but have been pretty much level since May. )

So, it's kind of late to be asking this, but ....would you go for the bigger waist or the better fit on the hips?

better fit in the hips. If the hips are too loose, the chamois shifts around too much, the baggy butt catches on you saddle, etc. If you could order bibs, the waist size wouldn't be so important (I think ?) as bibs are pretty easy around the stomach. Hope it turns out comfy - many companies send out a "fit kit" for groups to try on before ordering. Your group should ask for one next time. tokie

They offered bibs originally, but I don't know if enough people want them to place an order... I can probably send the order 1st thing tomorrow if I decide to buy. it would be $150 total, which is a lot for me to spend right now.....

Sorry if this is too late for you, but I second the suggestion of going for a better fit in the hips. The waist measurements tend to be more forgiving, at least on shorts. I bought my medium Sugoi shorts before I lost weight (31 inch waist, I think), and they fit fine. Besides, they'll stretch a bit with use.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I agree with the other posters. Go by the hip measurement first.

I know you've already ordered but just to make you feel better - yes, go by the hips. Susan O would say the same thing and she's the expert, right?
