Good friends & family read your own blogs?

Or do they know about your blogs, if you have created one?

Just wondering. There are some really strange blogs, content-wise. Some just darn puzzling and incoherent. I've often wondered if their loved ones knew what these people were like online....in terms of their self-expression and thinking on the Internet.

Mine are aware of my blogs. I send updates whoever is interested.

My friends and family, yes. My DH's family...not so much. I gripe about them on there sometimes. My MIL is a royal PITA and I need a place to vent about her sometimes. I liked FB a lot more before she "friended" me, too. Now I have to filter everything I say there. I could always block her from seeing my wall, but she would likely catch-on, then get nosy about what I am keeping her from reading.

I usually have multiple accounts for things - there are my private picasaweb accounts for family pics, vs. ones that i only post pics that i am comfortable with all of the internet seeing.

I've considered doing this. Would be kinda fun, too.

Yes, friends and family know/read our blog. But, we wouldn't even have one if we didn't move. We made it when we moved out of state so we could keep our friends/family up to date on how we were doing. Now that most of them are on FB, I don't update the blog as much as I used to.

My family and friends read my blog (hopefully!). I make it a point to never post anything publicly on the internet that I wouldn't say to someone in real life. That stuff can come back to haunt you!

I guarantee that my blog will always be family friendly and void from any political rantings. It will include bits about our church and activities, because that's just who we are, but nothing preachy. I want it to be someplace I can muse on life's funny happenings and to serve as a journal, of sorts, because I'm too lazy to actually keep a written one!

Ditto, almost exactly. Of course, I haven't been blogging in months, so my friends and family are getting a tad annoyed with me. That's the downfall to blogging - people want to you keep it current!

    Yes, yes we do!

Seriously, I'm just fascinated by all that you do for yourselves. Growing so much of your own food and putting it away to use throughout the year. It's like a modern day Little House book. And I like the goats. I'd be happy if you just posted your pics here.

We are harvesting our first full scale batch of honey this weekend. I promise to take photos and share them either here or on my blog.

You are probably the least annoying of my readers, by the way. My mother wins the prize for the most aggravating!

    Cool!

But I guess I'll have to work at being more annoying.

Our blog is for friends and family. My hand written journal is for the truly private stuff. I tend to put more of my tri training angst into my thread here "How Hard Can It Be?" If I put too much into the blog, family begins to worry. They don't get that sometimes suffering is part of training. And hearing back from fellow "sufferers" helps.

This is a good rule of thumb that I use too.
I know some of my friends and family prefer to read my personal blog (cyclewrite) vs. the business blog, www.thirdwavecyclingblog.wordpress.com that I administer. But I also write for the biz blog too.

It cuts down for me later time/effort in describing certain beautiful/interesting stuff to them. Besides I might forget all the wonderful stuff I saw/experienced later on. Writing style is not aimed specifically for family/friends but for anyone else since the 2 blogs are interlinked.

No, people in my family / friends don't FB much/at all. They just get into Internet surfing if they are lucky to find time.

    My mother does read mine.
I'll agree with the other poster - don't publish anything you're don't want the whole world to see. One of my FB friends is a Tech Recruiter, and his posts are usually on Social media and Careers. He's published some real hum-dinger from Real life.

Does anyone here have a blog that is sort of more work-related?

I know that Chile Pepper's ties in with her family's winery biz and mimi's for her paintings....

I will be creating a 3rd blog ---for a major event. So have been looking at specific features, etc.

Human imagination and how people visualize is just interesting!

Am I the only weird one here who thinks that no one would be particularly interested in the day to day stuff that goes on in my life?
My friends already humor me when I talk about my rides and I am pretty sure there is nothing else in my life that is that extraordinary in that people would want to read about it. I like to write, but I don't really have the urge to write about the mundane day to day of my life. And I can't write about my work...
No one in my family is on FB, except one son. The other one thinks national security will be breached if he goes on there, since he works in military intelligence.
I definitely would not want my family and friends to read about all that I am thinking or doing. It's easier to just talk about those evil thoughts with DH or close friends .
