    KSH- Side Stitches

    Hi,

So I'm going back and reading everyone's tri reports. I see you've had problems with side stitches in both races. A friend of mine who's a fitness trainier gave me this hint- make sure you aren't exhaling on the same foot strike every time- make sure you are alternating feet. This puts your diaphragm in an alternating position each time so it doesn't get as tired. So, if you are running relaxed: Breathe in- left right, Breathe out- left right left, Breathe in- right left, Breathe out-right left right. If you are running fast: Breathe in left, Breathe out right left, Breathe in right, Breathe out left right. So basically breathe out for one more footstrike than how many you are breathing in. (It's not at all confusing when you're actually running, but it looks hard written out!!)

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this... and for thining of me! I really do appreciate it!

Yea, my breathing needs work in race situations. Now that I am aware of what will happen... and what I need to do to fix it... I am sure I can fix it.

Unfortunately, I won't be racing again till next year.. but I won't forget!

    Thanks again!
