Spotted this linked from someone's blog...

My husband and I have actually had our vows renewed with Elvis in Vegas (at the same "church" Billy Ray Cyrus was married ), but this would be an awesome way to do it again. What's with the entry fees being the same for the half as the full? I know things are expensive in Vegas, but sheesh!!

If only I could plant the seed that running 13.1 wouldn't be so bad - he's said he thinks he could do the distance. I usually run the Seattle Marathon the week before anyway, so if we did this together he'd have to take it easy on me. He does enjoy a good post-race handicap - commuting on the bikes this week was entertaining, though I was towing a 70 lb dog.

I'm running that half this year--already registered and have my room booked. I'm meeting ~30 friends there from a running message board. Look for the gaggle of girls in plaid running skirts.

Yeah, that registration fee is insane. It's more than I ever spent for a full marathon, much less a half. But I'm not going so much for the race as I am for the fun surrounding it.

He could totally do the half. I haven't run for almost a month due to my sprained left ankle (I'm thinking I have another 10-14 days before it will be runnable), but I'm still looking forward to the half. It will definitely not be a PR performance, under the circumstances (even without the ankle issue it wouldn't be, not with that crowd).

I haven't been able to do any of the RnR races, it sounds fun. I usually hate Vegas, but this might be a new spin on it.

Oh, I love Vegas (because it feels more like an amusement park for grown-ups than it does an actual place...and it's a good starting point to get to some beautiful, quiet places. When we went in Dec. it included a day with a rental car and driving around Death Valley). I can't wait to see what it's like running with thousands of other people on the Strip. I've never done a race with more than about 6k other runners, so this will be a new experience on every level.
