I only had time to ride for an hour tonight, so that is what I did. I wanted to go to my fav country roads, but with only an hour I went to my faithful park - this is the one with a monster hill. We don't have many of those in Indianapolis, and up until a month ago I was intimidated by it because I had to go so slow and as this is the main drive through the park it gets busy with cars, joggers, and cyclists.

This evening I made it all the way up the hill and my speed averaged between 8 and 11 on the up-hill side! Whoo hoooo! Sure there were cyclists who passed me going up hill faster, but that's ok. They have been riding for longer than December 15, 2009

I still like mashing gears better than spinning with lower resistance, and I don't understand that... I guess because I can feel the gear beneath me while spinning in an easier gear just isn't the same....but I have no problem finding those easier gears when I need to. That happens a lot

And you know the hill of which I speak

Next time I get on the bike I am headed to my country roads... as pretty as the park is I am getting bored with it.

Actually, I'm not sure I do. I've ridden in the park all of once. I well know some of the hills just outside the park. If this hill is similar, then you should be proud!

I wasn't a very good climber when I first started, so it remains the yardstick by which I judge how I'm riding. I understand how great you must feel right now!
