    FS- The Legendary Mariposa

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I have to do it, I simply don't have the hip flexibility to get over the top tube

    Her vital statistics-
    • 6 speed cassette
      triple chain ring
      Campy hub (front only)
      Mafac brakes
      Shimano bar end friction shifters
      Nitto stem
      Soma moustache handlebars
      leather hand grips
      Brooks B68
      Bottle generator headlamp/tail light

Beautiful lugged steel frame from the now defunct Canadian builder Mariposa.
Riding this is like floating on air. She only weighs 26 lbs, pretty light for steel. This bike is truly a unique beauty.
    $925 includes shipping

that is a really beautiful bike. Out of curiosity, where is the other end of that tape measure? Middle of the bottom bracket or the floor?

That is one lovely bike. May she find a good home.

Another curiousity question...what does the shifter on the down tube do?

It engaged the original generator. That generator was not working when I got the bike so now it's just a decorative lever. Every bike needs one.

Gorgeous bike. I love the rear rack. Do the Mafac Racer brakes squeal as much as I remember them? That's a weight-saving feature - you don't need a horn.

Agreed....nice conversation piece. Although as it is, that bike is already quite the looker. If I were shorter, I'd be sorely tempted...

Of coure, knowing its previous owner (well, via her personona on the forums of TE), I might be worried that the bike would toss pithy zingers at me when I least expected them

    No squealing!
I like that rack too. Velo Orange sells a similar one .

Oh how I wish I had a place to ride a bike like this! She is totally my size and I'm drooling on my keyboard just looking at her. *sigh*

    What a gorgeous color!!!

I know I should not ask... but would you consider selling the frame alone?

You did mean seat tube, yes?

I've thought about this. As you can see from the long stem, this was originally a road bike.

I can't believe you're selling her. What happened to your left knee? It looks swollen and bruised.

I think this qualifies for a "coke alert!" As I sit here cleaning my monitor...

That's my stand-over height! If I hadn't just bought a kayak, I would seriously be considering this gorgeous bike.
