In case you missed it... My cat Brahma (a Bengal) decided to have a stare down with a Bobcat through one of our windows this morning. We were able to get a picture and my husband who works at the station was able to get it on the air. Here's a link to the news article: http://www.q13fox.com/news/kcpq-0519...,7373291.story Enjoy!

    Whoa! That's an awesome picture.

Was your cat having a conversation with him through the window, or just watching? A friend of ours had a Bengal that was pretty vocal.

No, he wasn't making sounds through the window. But usually he is pretty talkative. We also have a female spotted snow Bengal and she is pretty vocal. Their meows sound a little more "wild" than traditional cats, too!

Wow Jessica that is a great picture! It's amazing the wild critters that live right in our own backyards.

Oh, they were both 'saying things' for sure....just not with their vocal chords.

Too Cool. Just goes to show you that Bengals are not that far removed from the wild!

haha... I know. I swear the thought that was running through my cat's head was, "daddy???" The bobcat looks like it saw dinner though, or maybe it's thinking why is there another bobcat in that house??? I love that I have wild animals like this right in my backyard. This is the 3rd time we've seen a bobcat in our neighborhood in the 5 years we've lived here, and every time I think it is so cool. We also have deer that we see regularly. Our animals are indoor only, and there's been e-mails sent out of the bobcat sightings to the whole community, so everyone else that let's their cats out unattended do so at their own risk. The only thing I didn't like about the article was that it said call animal control if you see bobcats. Why would I do that?! I'm the one living in what used to be their home, and this is why I live out in the woods so that I can have nature around me! I think they're beautiful! The bobcat didn't make any sounds either, but I'm curious to hear what a bobcat sounds like when it meows or hisses. I bet it's pretty cool!

OMFG!!! Those sounds are ****ing scary... My great Dane is sitting next to me currently and is very disturbed by this. However, this explains the sound I heard about a year ago in the back of our place, during the night. I had my window open because it was during the summer (there was a screen on it, and we have a deck that is elevated about 6 feet off the ground), and I heard what sounded like an animal killing another animal. It sounded just like some of those growls, it must have been a bobcat killing a smaller animal. Who knew such a big sound could come out of a fairly small cat.

Those sounds are scary! I have heard that a Bobcat's sound is distinctive, that is no exaggeration!
