    April 21 rides

Wow, 3 weeks in a row for me doing my club ride.
Today was a killer. I made myself go, even though I should have stayed home to work on a case study that is a final for a class. But, I feel I need to do as much training as I can for my Spain trip. This trip is coming much earlier in the season than others I have done.
38 miles, with about 3,000 feet of climbing. There were 2 steep, medium length hills (both of which I have done) and just a relentless amount of long, not so steep ones. The kind I hate! I couldn't stay with the leaders on this one, but I did fine. One guy asked me how I practiced spinning at 100 rpm! I told him it's just the way I ride, I never really practiced. And, my average cadence is about 84. So many of these people grind up hills in hard gears. My knees couldn't take it.
The ride went from Holliston, MA, through Hopkinton, Uxbridge, and Westborough. I haven't done a lot of riding in this area, but it is hilly, to say the least. Oh, and I wore my "She loves hills" jersey today. I got so many comments. Some of the men asked if Team Estrogen was a team riding in the Pan Mass Challenge! And none of the women had heard of TE when I explained.

Had a lovely 34 mile ride today - It was beautiful out. I sang Hey Jude. Sometimes I'm glad I don't have a riding buddy! I was worried I was dressed a little too warmly but it worked out just fine! I got pretty tired towards the end, and was cycling against the wind, but I enjoyed it even though my speed was sloooow! I was also just trying out a new saddle - a specialized jett - and it's fantastic. I love it.

Nice - I had to work today but was able to sneak out at lunch for a quick 16.

I commuted today even though I had a migraine. I felt surprisingly good on the bike in, but pretty bad as soon as I stopped. Luckily, it wasn't a full blown one. On a scale of 1-10, it was about a 6 (no blind spots, lightening bolts, or or loss of speech). I felt a little nauseous, and by the end of the day my head was throbbing. I still rode back, and again felt good on the bike, except every pothole really hurt my head. Standing over the bumps helped. I think riding helped keep it from becoming a 10.

29 easy pace miles. The tailwind at the end was much appreciated. I might have called for a ride if I had a headwind.

I squeezed in a ride between work and dinner with a colleague. It was a great day to ride. I had orginally planned to work late to check up all the projects that I still have to grade but decided it was too nice a day to spend working in my classroom. I could literally hear my bike calling me home. So home I dashed, quickly changed and off I went. I tried a new route today - a nice mix of hills and flats; it came in just short of 20 miles. It took me through some lovely countryside and oh is it pretty now with the trees in bloom. I had a great time and it sure was a lot more fun than grading projects.
