Yesterday I sat in on the 90-min. webinar, on the Women Cycling Project which is managed by the Association of Pedestrian and Bike Professionals. As you know they are conducting the online survey which closes May 15, 2010. According to the number of online log-ins to the seminar, there were 177+ people internationally listening to webinar. Most likely more attendees, because 1 APBP member can log in on behalf for several other listeners in the same rm.
As of Mar. 28/10, they have received survey feedback from over 7,300 women. They recognize it is only a snapshot, not totally scientific. Already some of us commented here on TE.
5 women from different cycling areas spoke. Bios are here: http://www.apbp.org/event/women_in_cycling Additional speakers not listed on web page were: Janis McDonald (City of Portland, runs the Women on Bikes program) and Jane Healey (Chicago, involved in several cycling initiatives over time).
Their presentations are here: http://www.apbp.org/?page=Webinar_Downloads For preliminary survey result statistics, start on slide 44. Interestingly 1,114 respondents do not have a car.
There is a discussion group being set up at their site on this project. So far, I’ve figured out that one has to be a member of APBP or know someone. So I’ve registered under my partner’s name who is already a paying member for his biz.
I will inquire if other non-members can join project group online discussion.
