Since moving to flat Denver from hilly Seattle two years ago, I have been looking for something a lot lighter and speedier than my mountain bike or cruiser. After much shopping around and anxiety, last night I bought an immaculate, barely touched/ridden 2006 Scott Contessa Speedster with carbon fork, seatpost and Shimano 105 components from CL. Just $400 and I absolutely love it! Couldn't sleep at all thinking about getting off work today and taking it for a longer spin. And of course, now I'm at work...just daydreaming about getting off work LOL! Already have a helmet and gloves and luckily the pedals are double-sided so I can get used to the bike before taking on clipless. My husband has a trainer so I'm hoping that helps me when I get to that point. Also I have an appt to get it fitted to me in a few weeks, though it's rideable for now. I noticed a little bit of toe overlap when I was going VERY slowly so hopefully it can be slightly adjusted?
Anyway I have been browsing these forums for the last month or two gathering info and enthusiasm from everyone here, so thanks!

Toe overlap is common and is generally something you just get used to. I have it on both of my road bikes. I'm just careful when making tight, slow turns. You might do a search for it here; it's a frequent topic.Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Great price on that bike with those components! You may not be able to do anything about toe overlap - I probably have it on most of my bikes, and really don't notice it unless I'm making a tight U turn.

Yeah, wow...she was a steal! And a gorgeous ride...does she have a name, yet?
Congrats...I am new to this, too. I am LOVING getting out on the road and moving myself along under my own power--so much faster than I could dream of while running, too.

O, and aren't you starting to get a migrane? Is that a sinus headache coming on? That 70 to 10 to 70 temperature change sure did get the best of you didn't it? Is that a fever I sense?

I'm going to turn a blind eye to those mountains until my bike and I get acquainted
Though hopefully being a triple, it will help me eventually...
I love the weather changes here! Boarded Saturday and took my cruiser out yesterday, can't beat it.

I have a very nice forgiving canyon picked out. Definitely doable with a triple once the two of you get acquainted

Amazing bike!!
What a steal too. Enjoy every minute with your new baby. I have had my bike since August and I still have the occasional moments and work where all that I can do is think about taking a ride. I hope that that feeling never ends!
