Fit models needed for plus size apparel

Ladies,

In an ongoing effort to expand the offering of Plus Size apparel available to Team Estrogen customers, we are working with one of our favorite manufacturers to develop some plus size jerseys exclusively for us. We want the fit to be fabulous, so we are looking for plus size women in the Southern California area (Santa Ana) who would be willing to volunteer to go to the manufacturer's office to serve as fit models. These jerseys are being designed to be in the same size range as Terry jerseys 1X to 4X, so if you wear one of these sizes, we'd love to hear from you!

There's no monetary compensation involved, but if you are able to help us out, we can compensate you with one of the jerseys, in your size, when they are finished (sometime in early Spring 2006).

Thank you Susan! You're addressing the weird catch-22 that hits so many of us "not-size-2 women"...I don't want to have to wait and diet until I get "down" to a size where I can find good looking/well fitting/high quality/activity specific gear.

We're in Oregon. But the manufacturer is in SoCal, so hopefully we can find some willing volunteers there.

Queen - I'm far from a size 2 myself - mostly 12 & 14s. In fact, that was one of the reasons we founded TE in the first place. I could rarely find locally something flattering that fit me. And I hated the way men's apparel just wanted to ride right up to my waist. Made me look silly.

I was talking to my BF about why I used to hate the bike jerseys he tried to get me to wear - I actually refused to wear them - when I first started riding. We finally figured out that he was buying men's jerseys that looked ridiculous on me - all bunched up around my waist and loose and floppy. Thank god I found out that folks make women's jerseys. Kudos to TE for doing this - fit and fabulous should apply to everyone! More reasons why we love you guys!

I'm going to step in and explain what a fit model is and does

Each manufacturer chooses a fit model that best represents the ideal body type for their line. Ever just LOVE all the clothes from a certain manufacturer becasue they fit you just right? That will be because their fit model is similar to your body type. For example, DKNY will use a different fit model type than Patagonia.

A fit model will be somewhat 'average'; in the non plus size range she is usually a 10-12, and the patterns are graded up or down from this average person. (grading is the process of growing a pattern into the various sizes in a range of offerings) A fit model is usually average and well proportioned for her body type and size, but not a "model' by any stretch of the imagination for how we are used to thinking of that term.

Fit Model - this is what I've been doing for Voler so they can develop their women's "club cut." Those of you who've seen me would agree it isn't a Twiggy-thin body.
