20th Anniversary Torelli 50/53 Candy Apple Red

    Hi,

I don't hang out here too often but since I ride small frames I thought I would post this bike for sale here as well - I’ve decided to sell my 20th Anniversary Torelli, hand built by Antonio Mondonico and his son Mauro.

I ordered the bike shortly after I had both of my hips replaced in late 2001 and it was delivered in August 2002. The frame tubing is Columbus EL-OS (the predecessor to Columbus Zona). Chrome head lugs, fork crown, and drive side chainstay. Chrome is all in excellent condition.

Only a 100 of these frames were made; this is number 63.

I had the bike completely repainted by Dean and Acme Bicycle Paint in Portland in a luscious Candy Apple Red. Dean used House of Kolor for this and the result is truly stunning. All new decals, of course, and while the bike has been built up it has NOT been ridden since the repaint.

I rebuilt the original 10 speed Campy Chorus hubs with new black Mavic Open Pros, red alloy nipples and new double-butted DT revolution spokes. The wheels as built have not been ridden, but the hubs have about 5000 miles on them.

I’ve listed the components and if they are not marked ‘new’ then they have about 5000 miles on them.

    Component list:

    Campy Chorus 10spd Ally Shifters
    Campy Chorus 10spd silver hubs
    American Classic ti skewers (new)
Nitto Pearl alloy stem (11cm) (new)
    Velo Orange h20 cages (new)
Campy Record Carbon Rear Der. (new)
    Campy Centaur Front Der. (new)
Campy Chorus Ti seatpost (yes, Ti)
    Campy Chorus headset
    Campy Record triple (30/40/50)
    Campy Record bottom bracket
    Campy Record Cassette (12-25)
Selle San Marco Rolls Ti saddle (Torelli stitching)
Mavic Open Pro rims (32h/36h rear) (new)
New spokes, and new alloy nipples.
    Cinelli alloy bars
    Fizik bar tape (new)
Vred Fortezza Tri-comp 700x23c tires (new)

I did crash once going over a speed bump going about 8mph (before the repaint) but luckily my body threw itself onto the ground to protect the bike from any damage. I did scuff the left rubber brake cover though. You can read about the crash here: http://www.sscycleworks.net/sscycleworks/strawberry.htm

    Measurements (c-c):
    Seat tube: 50cm
    Top tube: 53cm
    Wheelbase: 980mm
    Front center: 585mm
    Chainstays: 395mm
    Seat tube angle: approximately 75
    Head tube angle: approximately 72.5

I can provide a different stem if needed and I’ll include a 10 speed chain. I have saddles as well if you don’t like the San Marco Rolls. Pedals are not included.

    Price:
$3100.00 complete bicycle, shipped, insured and Paypal.
$1600.00 frame/fork/headset, shipped, insured and Paypal

I took all of the pictures on 3/13/10

Please pm me with any questions.

    Thanks for looking,

    conorb

Drool I have this bike's sister, a Mondonico Futura Legero built by Antonio the year he retired. I got to meet the man himself

It's a sweet bike and rides as beautifully as it looks. good thing I'm too short and too broke.

    Gorgeous!

Luckily, it's too big for me and too small for my husband. Phew!

I don't know this bike, I don't know the OP, I'm just sayin' ... as a Mondonico rider I once got a chance to test ride Bikerz's Seven. Granted her bike is HER bike, made for her, and mine's mine made for me. But when two TE'ers in the range of five foot nothin' meet there may be some test rides. And a Seven I could not pass up the opportunity or pay her back if I dropped it.

Nice bike that Seven and granted not built for me. If it was MY Seven I know I'd be floored with the bike but testing it just made me looooove my Mondonico more. It's zippy, peppy, crisp, carves turns like a skier, but with all day comfort (4 AIDS rides under her tires) feels like an extension of me and the builder is retired sooooo

If you see one in your size and have the disposable income .... snap it up.
