Chronic Lymphoma Leukemia knowledge anyone?

My father was just recently diagnosed to having Chronic Lymphoma Leukemia by an oncologist. It is at a stage that they have to keep check on him, but no treatment, if it begins to show white blood increasing then he things could get complicated. His mother lost her life from Melanoma that started in her Lymphnodes near her reprod. organs. I don't know if this may be a weakness in my genes to have this lymph system prone or if the two have anything to do with the other. Just that it is mother and son and making this connection but it makes me wonder, and kinda concerned.

I believe that this is the form that a farmer friend of mine ( in his mid-50's now) has had for more than 10 years. He needed no treatment for 9 - summer before last, he needed chemo - he'd have chemo in the morning and be taking care of his Belgian horses in the afternoon. From what I can tell, his old football injuries have given him more trouble than the leukemia, most of the time. Love and light to you and your family!

My dad was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (bone marrow cancer) at the beginning of last summer, which is when I started riding. It's been a lot of ups and downs. I think that the most important thing through all of this is going to be your attitude. A positive attitude will make all the difference in the world. And naturally your going to want to do a lot of riding for that is what contributes to our attitudes and it is going to be a much needed stress relief. My bike has been my best friend this year. Vent to the bike and it will listen. Trust me.

I don't have any information for you. Just good thoughts and positive healing light for your dad and for you! Don't worry yourself sick. Know that you live healthy, and that your positive energy (and that which comes from this great community) will keep you healthy!

Sorry to hear about your father's diagnosis, but sounds like he has a lot of support, which includes yours!

www.CancerCare.org and www.Wellnesscommunity.org are two helpful general websites for cancer patients and families--good resources for support and information. You may also find www.leukemia-lymphoma.org helpful.

I have a friend whose mom has had CLL for many years now and she continues to do well. In fact she is the team leader for a cancer walk later this year!

Best wishes for your father and you. Make sure you take care of yourself so that you can remain present and hopeful for him (so that means, keep up the riding!)

Most Luekemia is 85% cureable. Unfortunately my sister's wasn't.
