This is an incredible videoclip. And relax the guy is with a comedian. Part funny, but other part is heart-stopping.
There is a tiny personal spin about this incredible athlete, who was last night's Olympic torchbearer out in the suburbs...as we get to the end.

+1 on both points.
Am trying to remember the exact yr. when Hansen rolled into our hospital since I worked at the hospital for 3 yrs. I never took any photos nor made any written notes at that time.
After looking at those older clips, I realized why I never paid much attention to Lance Armstrong until his last 2 Tour de France races.....after seeing Rick Hansen in person, a serious athlete at that time.
Really there's no comparison. He ranks in my (narrow?) mind, on par with Armstrong but a very different type of athletic celebrity. And one alot of people cannot say he is arrogant, etc. ...because he never appears to be.
For others who may not know, he married his physiotherapist and they have 3 daughters. Pretty ordinary life.
Not true for other disabled athletes, Steve Fonyo who (who ran on prosthetic leg like Terry Fox) was recently charged for possession of illegal drugs and for drug dealing...from his hospital bed.

Great clip; thanks for sharing! Great lines in it, too!![]()
he's very approachable, too. I saw hime twice in random places and he's always smiling.
Also thought it was cool about the remarks of (short) Steve Nash, the NBA (basketball) star, originally from Victoria, B.C., after his run yesteray in the torch relay at 49th St. where he shocked alot of teen basketball kids when they saw him (no advance news he was going to be in relay).

Steve said when he was a kid, his hero..was Terry Fox, the Canadian guy, who nearly finished his run across Canada on 1 good leg and 1 prosthetic leg but succumbed to cancer.
I didn't know but Terry Fox is actually known in some European countries. He is known in Germany. And some of cancer-related runs, are named after him. Long before Lance Armstrong came on the scene. Terry Fox, in certain parts of Europe, is still remembered.
It may true the ParaOlympics aren't getting enough attention.
But it is very true that 2 Canadian athletic heroes for past 25 years, with a national recognition, just happen to be 2 people each with disability, where alot of Canadians have derived inspiration-- Rick Hansen and Terry Fox. There are several monuments all over Canada for each of these people.
