Bar end mirrors and Ergon grips

I have Ergon grips on my Trek 7.6, and am wondering if anyone has tried one of the bar-end mounted mirrors with these grips, such as found here.

I think I would like this better than a helmet-mounted mirror... but will it fit? Is this a silly question

I called Performance Bicycle and they told me that it should work as my Ergon grips do not have the extension - so I went ahead and ordered it. It looks like I just have to pull out a plug at the end of the grip to install the mirror.

I don't know what else I CAN get for Stella, she seems to have a full set of accessories outside of clipless pedals I want to get some miles on her before I decide on whether the saddle stays or not.

My only suggestion would be to release the bolt on the grip prior to installing the mirror. Install mirror and then tighten grip back down.

Thanks - I was looking at the bolt yesterday and thought that might be a good idea.

I am resurrecting an old thread here. I have Ergon grips on my hybrid and am interested in figuring out some kind of mirror. Catrin, was it easy to put on the Mirrycle mirror? How has it worked? I can't quit see how the mirror works with the grips.

Hi Goldfinch. I don't know what kind of Ergon grips you have. But if you don't have the ones with the extensions, you just pop out the end plug, and insert the mirror. I like mine, and prefer it to a helmet mirror.

With the extensions (like barends), different issue tho.

It isn't a problem at all, you can see a bad picture of one of my bikes in this thread, though I've the mirror folded out of the way in this shot. A slightly better picture here.

Basically, if you don't have the Ergons with the integrated bar end, the cap at the end of the grip comes out and the mirror is inserted. This mirror rocks and has served me well. I have one on both of my bikes that are meant for road use.

There are no bar ends on my grips. I did pop the cap at the end out, so the Mirrycle mirror should work. I am going to pick one up tomorrow. I am tired of my helmet mirror and switching it between helmets.

The mirror is a PITA to put together, but it is a solid and durable mirror. If your LBS will put it together without charge I recommend it.

You were right, the mirror was a PITA to put together, I had to put a wrench on the Allen key to turn it! But, the mirror is on and I love it.

Also, if you happen to break the mirror, the company sells a replacement mirror for $6 so you don't have to replace the entire thing. Given the nature of bar-end mirrors this is nice!
