    Smile The "Emily Ride"

    Hi all ~

Some of you have been following my cycling accident and recovery and know that awhile back my bike club friends promised (or threatened ) an "Emily Ride" to welcome me back to the fray. Well, that ride was held this morning and was a blast! You can read about it by clicking the link for my Livejournal blog below.

    ~ Emily

P.S. Denise, if you are reading this (and if I know you, you are!) I chatted with a gal on the ride who mentioned how much she admires you and your wonderful bike journals. She is thinking about a Bike Friday as well. I told her that I thought you were wonderful too (and your journals, and your photography), so I just wanted to pass that along. If you started feeling all warm and fuzzy for no particular reason at around 10:30 am today, that was Carrie Anne and me, sharing our admiration for you!

You're right, I am reading... Just got back from my ride with Robyn & her husband Steve, and I had to check what was up on TE.

That's really special that your club had a welcome back ride for you. Sounds like your recovery is coming along nicely - even if it is likely slower than you wanted!

And thanks for passing on the comments from your conversation with Carrie Anne. It means a lot to me to hear that people enjoy my journals and find them helpful. Although I'm sure you can help her with Bike Friday questions, please tell Carrie Anne to feel free to contact me either here or through one of my crazyguyonabike journals if she has questions that I can help to answer.

    Emily,

Your ride sounded wonderful. I hope by the time you read this your aches and pains are gone. You did great & I am happy to read that you really enjoyed yourself. That is some nice club that you ride with.

I will add that I enjoy reading your blog. I check it for updates and I also enjoy reading updates on Denises site. It got to be another habit on Mondays to see what she was up to over the weekend.

Em: you are never far from my thoughts and I know how much you have been looking forward to this ride. What a wonder-fun, allround-awesome day for you. and 20 miles at a 14 mph pace? what a feeling of accomplishment that must've been for you. I am so proud of you and all the hard work you did to recover and get back on the bike.
Thanks for bringing us along on the "ride"!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    What a ride!

    Emily:
I haven't been on the board long, and just today had the opportunity to read your blog. The entry about the Emily Ride, made me cry! What an amazing club you have, who have stuck with you through this unbelievable time.
    You're an inspiration!

Fabulous Emily - just read your blog... might sound cliched... but you ARE an inspiration...

What a great club you have to support you liked this

What fantastic motivation and dedication you have to heal yourself like this!

Emily, that is fantastic!! And your recovery rate is AMAZING!

I can say I sorta know how you feel since I spent 18 months rehabbing my right knee once-upon-a-time, it's an arduous/painful/scary thing and you keep wondering if it'll EVER be ok again. Way to GO girl!
