In the last few years (my 40's) I have had more and more pain and become more and more sedentary. I spent my younger years doing jobs like Law Enforcement and then Firefighting and playing sports like rugby, tennis, cycling, weight-lifting, swimming, etc. With a total of 4 right knee surgeries, a blown left rotator cuff, and a arthritic spine as the result of all that activity.![]()
Anyway, this year my partner and I got kayaks and started paddling...then we decided to get off our motorcycles and start peddaling again (she used to ride centuries all the time and I sorta/kinda wobbled along for 20 or 30 miles), well this last weekend we went for a bike ride on Saturday and a nice river paddle on Sunday...this morning when I woke up I had NO back pain??? For the first time in a couple of years I felt refreshed and pain free first thing in the morning!!!![]()
I just assumed my back would feel like crap for the rest of my life. All I can say is whoda thunk it??![]()

That's fantastic, Queen -- I hope I can piggyback on your pain-free mojo! I picked up cycling as a cross-training activity, because I needed more cardio and I can't run without absolutely everything hurting. Aside from getting addicted to the bike for its own sake, I keep waiting for it to hurt, and it just doesn't...
That's so great to hear!! I'm glad you were able to find something like that to make the pain go away.

that's awesome! anything you can do that helps make your body NOT hurt is a goooooood thing![]()
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".
That's wonderful! I'm so glad you are pain-free. Bicycles are wonderful things.
Thanks for all the words of encouragement everyone! With any luck this could become a regular thing.![]()
All I can say is... you are hardcore.
Yes, that's a good thing.![]()
