'Twas the Day Before the Race...

and all through the house, there's last minute packing - I feel like a louse!

Seriously, I'm a bundle of nerves. We tried to ride the course last night and it poured so we didn't get very far. Now my shoes are soaked - how do I get them to dry out fast? I have my nervous runs already (sorry if tmi), and I can't sit still. Any good relaxation tips out there? I was so gun shy out there last night after my last couple of falls it was pitiful. The course length is 12.3 miles. We are riding in a 4 x 12 hour mountain bike race and I'll have my 3 yo with me (cuz it's my rare weekend with him or I would have made arrangements for him to be elsewhere).

I am taking half a day off of work so I can ride the course this afternoon. I just really need to know what's coming at me out there - I don't want any surprises. I'll keep you posted Monday with results and hopefully a picture or two.

Oh,and my bf got me a new helmet last night as my early bday present (38 on Tuesday). A Giro Havoc - love it! And he checked my pedals and thinks it's my form so I practiced some more. So that should take away all my little annoyances. I think I'm ready....

darby... take the instep outta the shoe and set both upside down over a heater vent! they'll be dry in a few hours of doing that... had to do it every night in Ireland after riding... that was one wet week! LOL

I can imagine about the nerves... but I'm sure you're gonna do great! Tonight try to sleep, maybe a soak in the tub and a small glass of red wine to ease out that tension... looking forward to hearing how well ya did! And happy early B-day (cause my memory with this stuff stinks!)

    Just relax and enjoy...

    "I will try again tomorrow".
