    Dratted vehicles!

We decided to have one of the last rides of the season on the Mickelson today. The weather was perfect. I sure didn't need all the layers I brought, but I was prepared for anything. It was my first trail ride on the Dew Deluxe. I was very happy with it. A few minor adjustments needed, but nothing major.

We had to take the van because the old Volvo wagon (with the Yakima rack) wouldn't start after we got it all loaded and ready to go. Sigh. Took the seats out of the van, laid the bikes in the back with old army blankets for padding. Transferred helmets, CamelBaks, other assorted stuff, and were on our way (later than planned, but oh well).

On the way home the van began to make a horrible noise. Like someone was throwing a rock around inside the engine. We pulled over. The serpentine belt, which was new this July, had started to fray and a big piece of it was hitting things on its way around. Luckily it made enough noise that we avoided total belt failure. We called a tow truck the guy took forever to get there. I think he was annoyed at being called out on a Saturday night. Then the tow truck started having engine problems. Finally got home late, tired, stiff (in all my planning, I neglected to bring a dry change of clothes for after the ride) and crabby. Now my bike is locked in the van in the tow yard. I'm hoping I can get it tomorrow because I don't have a car to get to work on Monday.

It's a good thing we had a good ride!

The van is fixed. The Volvo has decided to run again for the time being.

One needs a heater fan/blower motor and the other has plugged up vents or may need a heater core.

Hubby test drove some cars today. I think he's getting ready to admit that the Volvo just isn't reliable anymore. I don't say too much. That car is his baby.

A used Nissan Murano followed him home today. I guess I'll stop feeling guilty about the Kona (lol). Seriously, it's about time he decided that the Volvo can't be trusted anymore. The next time she starts we'll have to drive her home from the Nissan dealership.
