Need a bike to ride while in USA

So, I am tired of going to visit my mother for a month in summer and month in winter with no bike to ride. Would like to buy a bike that "lives" at her house. What I have: 50cm, frame no brand, painted red. Ultegra group, compact, Sora shifters, Cable Creek breaks. Carbon seat post and carbon fork GW. A friend built the bike for me. Would like something similar that I can have shipped to California. I have a teacher salary paid in pesos budget of $500. Any clues where I might shop for such a thing?

If your mother lives in or near a metro area, there is a good chance that www.craiglist.com will have some pretty active listings on used bikes.

sorry, indeed USA/CA big places, BAY AREA. Been looking on craiglsist, hard though, since I can't go test it or see it, and didn't really want to spend my vacations driving all over the bay area in december looking for bike. Just wanted it to be sitting there all pretty at my mother's house when I arrived.....ok, yes a fantasy!

Even "Bay Area" could be narrowed down a bit. We have several TErs there. If you guys hook up for any cool rides, let me know. It would be a fun road trip from SoCal.

ah! not really sure, a friend is putting it together for me, generic frame and parts, but I know the color, pink green and white, so when I get it in December I will take a picture. her name is Taffy, since her sister Lollipop lives here in Colombia with me.
