    Powertap Standard vs Powertap Pro

So I took the plunge and decided to get a powertap "pro" off ebay, well it came, I set it up only to find out that it's actually a powertap standard aka a powertap that CAN have the cadence sensor (this is the only difference I can find between the standard and the pro) but doesn't. I'm so mad that I was lied to ( or perhaps the fool didn't actually know the difference??)

Either way, I was wondering if anyone knows if you can buy the mounting kit to make it into a powertap pro. From what I can tell it's just about getting the cadence sensor and the mount to go with it, but I wanted to make sure this is actually correct.

    I found this:

    is this the right idea?

    Thanks a million!

    Congratulations on your powertap :-)

Of all the widgets and gadgets out there, I have found the powertap (PT) to be, by far, the most useful by a wide, wide margin.

About your buy: I have a powertap pro and kind of have the opposite scenario - I've (in typical fashion) misplaced the cadence sensor so I use it without the actual/'real cadence. Mind you, it still has virtual cadence whereby the hub can guess very closely at that, as to what your cadence is. Caveat is, that this works best for the more common cadences I think, say between 50 and 100. Over 100 and all bets are off.

From what I remember, and I could be way off, this is basically the same hub you have - again, minus the cadence sensor.

The tri-sports people are pretty helpful by the way so you can call to confirm if you like - i got my PT from them and they did a great job.

Power training has been a huge boon for me since I started riding this year.

    Best of luck

I think you might have a steel hub, and the pro is alloy? There is a difference of about a third of a pound.
