    First Metric Century!!!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Well, tomorrow is my first metic century. I'm a little nervous about it and hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew. It's just a benefit ride, not a race. I'm just hoping I can pace myself and not take off like a bat out of hell and then fade out. I've done a couple of 40 mile rides and I was tired but I wasn't hurting or swearing off riding a bike ever again. Sorry about the rambling, but I just wanted to get this out and see if anyone has any last minute advice!!

If you've done 40-mile rides, you'll be fine Remember to eat enough, and drink frequently even if it's not hot out. It easy to get wrapped up in pedaling and forget about hydration.

    You'll do great!

    UPDATE: Metric Century

Well I didn't complete the full metric century, but I did 54 miles total. The only reason why I didn't complete the full metric century was because I had a friend who did the ride with me and she was wanting to quit at one of the SAG stops at around mile 38. She didn't really want to quit but she said her legs were just jello and didn't know if she would be able to complete the full 64. So I told her we could just do the 50 mile one and she could at least say she didn't quit and that she completed the ride. So we did the 50 miles, but in her defense, she was a new rider. Her first ride was 11 miles like a week ago. So by her wanting to do the 50 instead of the 64 was fine with me. I told her that she did awesome and that she shouldn't feel bad about it!!!

Either way, 50 miles is now my highest milage to date, and I'm pretty happy about that. Not many of my friends and family can say they have rode a bicycle for 50 miles so I don't really see anyone calling me a wuss. Next year I'll be doing the 64 mile for sure and possibly the 100 mile if I train right. Thanks for everyone support and encouragement. I love all the women on teeam estrogen. You ladies have been my motivation and are pretty much the reason why I have done as well as I have. THANKS AGAIN!!!!
