Hi Friends:
The barefoot running threads we had a bit ago started me thinking about running again. I have never cared for it, but had always wanted to run a marathon. So in 2002, I went from scratch to marathon in 6 months. (with no injuries and finished in 5 1/2 hours, slow but fantastic for me.) This (training and race) was perhaps the most tremendous experience in my life. After the marathon, I could not sustain motivation to keep running.
So now, after learning about barefoot running, I am starting again. In the past, I have had foot pain when in a running or walking program. I am curious to see how it goes now wearing Vibram Five Finger shoes. I may never be a purist to do it barefoot, but I think the shoes will give me most of that experience.
