Other than the humidity, how is your commute going?

I have wanted to ride my bike to work for a while, but I often have stuff I need to bring (I'm a GED teacher.), and I didn't know which route to take (The way I drive is busy roads and out of the question.). Last week I got a rack on my bike - had to be specially mounted because my frame is small - and bought panniers (big ones that will work for grocery shopping too), and this afternoon between the thunderstorms I took a practice ride there and back. It's a short, in-town commute but I'm happy to be putting the bike to practical use, and the side roads are interesting, old houses with flowers, little kids playing. It should be fun! No shower at work, but I hope the shortness of the commute, plus the fact that I'll probably have to stop to wait for traffic at a couple of intersections will mean I won't be too sweaty when I get there. I was today, but it was really humid and mid afternoon.

Women are. Like tea bags; you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Way to go on putting your bike to more practical use.Are you enjoying the commute? Have you found that you arrive to work feeling more alive and refreshed?

Sounds like a great idea! I really wanna try it too but I'm still trying to figure out what route I should take. Let us know how it works out for you after you try it out!
