    Vent: can't get handlebars

    To disable ads, please log-in.

So I have my heart set on a set of trekking/butterfly handlebars, but no one near me has them. In fact, the LBSsI called didn't even seem to know what they are! Some said they could order, which means I'd have to go in and look at their books, because it's not something I can describe clearly over the phone and I have to make sure I'm ordering what I really want. I'm just frustrated because I have a case of want-it-now-itis (or at least want-it-by-this-weekend-itis) and it's just not going to happen. *pout*

Yes, buy online, it will be much cheaper than ordering through your LBS, you'll get exactly what you want, and you'll get the valuable experience of working on your bike a little bit.

The first place online I ordered my sparrows from had them backordered and it didn't show - I spent a few days waiting on them before they let me know they were backordered, then I had to start searching all over again... it was worth the wait though.

And don't be afraid to work on your bike It's good experience to have, and pretty hard to mess anything up until you actually start disassembling the components themselves.

actually, if they are the same ones I'm looking at online, my LBS can get them for $15; the ones I see online are $22. I can't justify paying $20+ for overnight shipping, I'm too cheap!

And I'm definitely not afraid to work on my bike...I'm a mechanic's daughter and have done plenty of work on my car, so working on a bike is not intimidating. A totally different ballgame obviously, but I'm certainly up for learning!
