    July 3rd rides

I was going to sleep in and do the club ride, but I woke up at 5 and couldn't get back to sleep.
so I got out and rode.
I actually made to to the start., and went on the ride, but double back after a mile and chatted with some of my friends at the coffee house(bicyclist who wern't riding for various reasons)
    A most excellent choice!

I rode 40 miles on this cool 87 degree day from downtown St. Louis to Chesterfield and back. Actually, I chickened out of the largest hills (or lazed out of them really) and had originally intended to do 50 miles. Turns out 40 was juuuust right.

Lovely day! Lots and lots of cyclists out and generally very polite drivers.

Group did a special Friday edition of the N2 (due to the prevalence of federal jobs around here - most folks had the day off). About 30 to start, with folks breaking off here and there to do different routes. The last 10 or so got seriously split up working our way down Bradley Blvd, due to traffic control measures (read: lots of police and pedestrians means slow going and forced delays) for the AT&T National golf tourney (thanks, Tiger Woods! ).
By the time we hit Rock Creek Park, there were just four of us left. Still, it was a nice day to be out and about....temps were surprisingly mild, humidity was next to nothing, and a pleasant breeze was blowing. And, it was the first day of my "stay-cation" - a week off to do nothing but ride, paddle, putter, and read. (Clean the house? Laundry? I don't THINK SO!)

See my blowout thread. Got in a short hill workout, but lots of cyclists out. Guess everybody skipped work today!

I did a group ride with a couple of cycling clubs near the Chesapeake Bay. 40 miles, very nice, only three hills, good company.
