KarenSaturday morning, Frederick’s friend Bill Hancock went to the mailbox. Bill was in shock — he and Frederick had shared so much, including their love of cycling. When he opened the mailbox, there was a postcard that Bob Frederick had sent, probably on the day of the accident. It was to encourage Bill to bicycle in the ride across the Flint Hills.
“The scenery in the Flint Hills is always fabulous,” Bob had written, and he underlined “always.” And Frederick ended by saying he would go for as long as he could pedal.
