Doing a HIM w/ a cold, any suggestions?

The good news is that I am excited about my 70.3 race this Saturday and that I have had a steady taper. The bad news is that I have been home with a cold all week and despite feeling a little better today I doubt I will be 100% come race-day.

I have never done a triathlon sick so we'll see how this goes. I'm convinced I can do it though!!!

Kleenex has been packed into my hydration belt and I might stick another pack in one of my jersey pockets, but other than that is there anything I should have on me to help during the race?

Of course I am hydrating like mad & inhaling anything labeled "high in vitamin c" in hopes of getting mostly over this in two days, but I am mentally trying to prepare myself for racing as I feel today.

Any input you have on racing sick would be helpful! Thank you!

AWESOME!!! I made it ALL THE WAY!!!

The day before the race I was running a fever, blowing my nose every few minutes & feeling like crap worried that I might not be able to race in the morning. But after chugging on some nyquil and a decent nights sleep paired with answered prayer I was good to go in the morning. Definitely not 100% but good enough to race.

I'll share more details soon, just got back from traveling home.

My final time was 6:41:56. Which put at 232 out of 253 that did the HIM. It's about where I figured I would be, slightly slower but not bad especially considering my cold meds. started to wear off at mile 45ish on the bike and the temps were HOT 80's for the run (I've only run in temps about 70 twice this summer since it's been so cool here.)

Everything said and done it was a great race. I had A LOT of fun!! I feel wonderful today, able to walk easily. Could run if I wanted to, but I'm letting the body recover a few more days before that.

Urlea, congratulations! I too was wondering. I am so glad to hear it went well given that damn cold!

Congratulations!! I can't believe you did it with a cold! I don't know if I would've been that brave. I have to ask - how was it fun??? I'm asking b/c I have my first HIM in three weeks and I am very nervous. I cannot see the "fun" part (at least not yet).
