I am not sure if someone has already posted this article (I did a quick search), but I was checking out the Ride of Silence* web page, and I ran across this article:

link to the actual article: http://www.statenews.com/index.php/a...ay_on_sidewalk
To say I was angered, saddened, and sickened after reading this article is putting it mildly.
*for those who don't already know...the ride is May 20th, and it is a ride that takes place in cities all over the world to honor cyclists injured or killed while riding on the roadways...http://www.rideofsilence.org/main.php. I have particpated the last few years, and it is very moving.

I know...I was thinking the same thing. If something like that was posted in the Dallas Morning News, for instance, most of the comments after the article would have been in support for that guy.
Wow, I bet Zack Colman didn't expect the backlash from his article! I did a google search on him and replies are all over the net! Ha, his article actually was a plus for cycling!

There was an "opposing viewpoint" one week later (by a copy editor on the paper staff, if I remember correctly, who cycled).
I was compelled to comment when a staff person posted that it was "satire." Indeed. When bullies get exposed, they almost universally say "but I was just kidding!@!" Gag.
+1 for Kir poster who suggested Zack to not pursue a career in journalism. The boy sure didn't do his homework regarding where a bike is supposed to ride.
Well I hope his total lack of understanding may help shed light on what is correct in cycling. Where to ride for a starter and what not to do while driving.
As much as I hate to say this, gas price really needs to be up in $5.00/gallon or more range. Economic reason to ride more bike.
I get the feeling that this kid had it in his head that he was Onion brand funny, but went about expressing it in the WRONG forum. Or maybe not, maybe it was his dad in the blingy BMW who turned left in front of me without stopping or even looking. Nothing like the squeal of 105 brakes in a panic.
