An aquatard is essentially a bathing suit with more coverage. It's made of the same material as bathing suits and serves the same purpose.

A wetsuit is made of neoprene, ranging from 2-5mm thick. It's designed for warmth and buoyancy. It works by allowing a small amount of water to get trapped inside the suit next to your body. Your body heat then warms up that water and keeps you warm. The wetsuit has to fit closely or that film of water will keep exchanging with the surrounding water, never allowing you to get warm. (been there, done that. Ugh)

Thank you....I believe I have an aquatard then. I am going to try it out on our open water swim practice this weekend. Its in an old rock quarry that is fed by a spring..... I am sure its real really warm...LOL
