Thoughts on previously-owned Trek Navigator 50?

I'm going to buy a used bike soon (price range under $150, could maybe stretch to to $200) and there aren't too many options on Cincinnati craigslist.

One is a Trek Navigator 50 for $150. I want to use this bike for city commuting (including mad hills) and even though I think this is a hybrid bike it looks a bit clunky in the pictures.

I don't really know much about bikes--when I go to look at it how can I tell if the components are in good working order??

    Thanks for your comments

My first "good" bike was a navigator. If you are riding hills, I say NO! It IS clunky and that front suspension just zapped me. How about a Fuji hybrid? They seem to go fairly cheap? Sometimes the Trek fx 7.2s are reasonable too. Good luck.
