    Starting the 2009 TT Season

Well, last night we kicked off our weekly TT series - every Weds night between now and the first week of September. Last year, I was disappointed to not have met my goal of beating my PR on this course (23:56), so, I'm hoping to do that at some point this year.

After reclaiming the tandem record last season, we hauled out the rocketship last night. Both DH and I have been training pretty hard in the off season, so we were interested to see what we could do on the first run out. Not great - finished in 21:55 (1:17 short of our record). We did have to come to almost a complete stop twice, however, due to traffic, reducing our average speed by 1 mph. That said, not as bad as we thought .

LBTC - you still doing TTs this year? Raven? Anyone else?

Robyn - the event has started - come down to watch anytime! We're registering now in the Old North Bridge parking lot, but still starting and finishing in the same spots.

    Achievable???

Last night was my first solo attempt at the TT for this year. My training has been going well, and my race results have been reflecting that, but I still had some pretty low expectations going into the ride.

Imagine my surprise, then, after being slowed by traffic, to set my second fastest time EVER! finished up with a 24:05 (24.28 mph or 39.075 kph).

My PR on the course is 23:56, so I will be working for an elusive 10 seconds over the season (actually, I will be working to a goal of 23:40 - that will make me the fastest woman in my club). Hopefully this is achievable!

    Success!

After two years of chasing (and chasing, and chasing...), I FINALLY bested my PR on our TT course tonight! Results aren't final until tomorrow morning, but I BELIEVE that I did 23:43 - 13 seconds faster than my best time!

    WOOHOO!

Of course, the new Specialized Transition could have something to do with that .

    Can I retire now?

Nice work, Cathy! I know you have been working on this for awhile.
I think about you doing the TT every time I ride up the hill on Monument St.

Sure, you can retire. But, what would you do ?

Good thing I didn't retire. Tonight's ride was another PR @ 23:37! That new bike is awesome! You really can buy time...
