    Thoughts on converting to tubeless?

    I've done a small search here but not found the exact answer yet. I have decided to go tubeless but would like a bit more info.

    What are your thoughts if you've gone this direction? Any good sites for a lowdown?

    I went tubeless.

    I changed the stock rims and tires on my mtb to Mavic rims with Kenda tubeless tires filled with Stan's. I like the fact that it's lighter, runs on lower psi, is durable and holds air well. I put Stan's in my tires about 1 year ago and I've not had any problems with it. I have yet to do any patch job on the tire but I do carry a tube as a backup as well as a tire puncture repair kit.

    The initial set up can be messy and time consuming so check with your LBS to see if they are comfortable converting to tubeless. I have ordered the valve stems with the removable core valve that allow me to refill the tubes so that it will be less messy.

    I went tubeless on my CX bike w/a Stan's kit. They're great, and it's easy to do yourself after watching the video on the Stan's site (though be prepared to spill some sealant all over the floor ).

    When my MTB gets here, I'm going tubeless immediately.
    Because not every fast cyclist is a toothpick...

    We broke the cardinal rule and changed mine over 'guetto' with a Stans kit the night before a race. It was pretty easy and held perfect pressure all night and race. I ran right over a small barrell cactus during the race (got off course a bit) and we had to pick the needles out of the tire last night. Lost no pressure during the race. You can't ask for more than that!

    One of my riding buddies got a set of road wheels a couple of months ago that can be used either way. He started off tubeless but switched back to clinchers within a few days. He was just too afraid of getting a flat.

    new

    After quite a few moons, I now have my new wheels (Jet Black) & tubeless tire set

    I was all ready to use them last weekend until...7am saturday morning we heard BANG!..Whoops..one exploded tire..poo. Back to our bike shop dudes who redid them for me (they set them up & had a few issues with other tires doing this as well..)

    This week, no explosions & raring to give them a go. I need to get them sorted before our event next weekend.
