    Pilates DVD

Can anyone suggest a very good intermediate pilates DVD? My core is very strong but I would like to try something different. I need to work out on my back and core and my friends at the gym who take pilates swear by it. I don't have time to go to classes so I want to do the DVD. I'm also doing Coach Evil Troy Spinervals and love it. I'm training for a Duathlon.

I can't help you with the DVD, as I took classes for several years and now do Pilates on my own. But I'd be interested in a DVD recommendation, too.

Do you really not have time for one Pilates class per week, instead of going to the gym, for example? I think it's really important to work with a good instructor, because if you do Pilates incorrectly, you can hurt yourself.

Netflix has some too (now, if only they'd get Spinervals...)

I like Winsor Pilates (of infomercial fame!!). The beginner workouts are a little too basic, but the longer advanced workouts are more of a challenge. Look for some of the older ones that don't require additional gadgets (resistance band, sculpting circle, etc.).

So you're a fan? Did you think Pilates helped with cycling? I've been thinking about trying it for my off days.

I like the Stott Pilates videos. But I agree that it's important to start with a good instructor before moving to a home practice. (And get periodic tune-ups with a good instructor as well.)

A friend of mine recently mentioned that she got Classical Pilates Technique - The complete mat workout series:

She sounds pretty happy with the difficulty level, and she is someone who I know is pretty consistently up on the latest training and fitness theory.
