I feel exactly the same when I ride my road bike (Bike Friday with narrow drop bars and those 20" wheels) after being used to my mtb. The first few miles are kinda freakish/scary!

Clearly I need to start riding my tri bike more often. I got on her this morning and she felt like I noodle underneath me! So squirrely! OY
Lately I've been riding my flat bar roadie and my mtn bike, so I've adapted to that position. I thought I was gonna crash the first few miles on the tri bike this morning.
Looks like I'll be making a point of riding her more often. Esp. since I felt so good after riding her that I decided a run would be in order. Haven't done a brick in months. It was such a good feeling when I was done.
But MAN does just a few months off the tri bike change things!

I'm with you. Took Fasty (what I call the tri bike- as opposed to slowy the touring bike and dirty the mtn bike) out for a spin on Friday and it felt SOOOOO strange. I felt like Chris Farley in Tommy Boy "Fat guy in a little coat." I felt like "fat girl on a teeny bike."I was all bundled up so bending into aero with bulky layers was hard, and it felt so light and nimble.
Funny how "unused" to it I've gotten. And my neck has been sore for 2 days from being in aero.
I did not, however, feel the need to run like you did. Let's get out there on our tri bikes more often, RM. Gotta get those tri muscles in working order again.![]()

OMG TG thats EXACTLY how I felt this am!! The FAT girl on the teeny bike!!
My GUT was getting in the way when I was down in the aerobars!
Lets just say it was enough to keep my nutrition on track today!
Now that running hubby is getting into endurance training I think both of us will benefit. It's always easier to do it w/someone else. And with him keeping an eye on his diet it will be nice! We are co-dependant in that regards sometimes.
BUT YES! Lets stay on our tri bikes!!
Oh dear. you ladies have me worried. I've dished out the money on the tri bike and I've never even ridden in aero bars. I'd better take the first few rides easy so I can adjust. Yikes! I've been getting apprehensive about this while I wait for the Cervelo to arrive!

Oh, don't worry about being aero, Silver. If you've never ridden on bars before it'll take some time to get used to them, but I was just having trouble getting used to the tiny, nimble ride of the tri bike. My 32 lb touring bike feels like a tank compared to the P2C. I just had to remember how to be fast and responsive again... and give your neck some time to adjust, too. It always takes me a month or so when I start back up on Fasty to get my neck muscles to remember what riding in aero is like.
When will your bike be in???

Hopefully This week! I've adjusted my spin bike handlebars low and gotten into a nice tuck in my classes hoping to get my neck used to it.

They've come up with a new idea over here: spinning cinema.
You bring your own bike, put it on one of their trainers.
They show a dvd and boy do you have to hold your head up even higher than on the road when you're in the 'bars. I had a rather sore neck after first time.
Today's session is even longer at 2h15min (we are watching Sex and the City - the movie). Maybe I'll just listen now and then if my neck can't take any more....
