    Frist 1/2 marathon

Well I did it! I paid the registration and signed up for the Deadwood/mickelson trail 1/2 marathon on June 7th.

I have quite a few friends who have done it and it is beginner/walker friendly. I rode my bike on the "big Mick" a couple of summers ago and loved it so i thought it would be a fun place to start.
It is a "rails to trails" project and the 1/2 is a 3% grade downhill so not too grueling

Here is the website if you want to check out the pics (or register

It's about the journey and being in the moment, not about the destination

That sounds cool! We rode on the Mickelson trail a few years ago when we went up to see Mt. Rushmore, etc. The trail felt like mush at the time - It was like we were going uphill both ways But yeah, the nice thing about the Rail Trails is the minimal incline (so you really won't have much hill work).

You will do great! The hardest part is actually signing up! Yeah for you! You have plenty of time to train.
