    Fidlfreek finishes her Look 585

Yeah! After 5 weeks of deliberations and shopping I have finished (or my BF has finished, more correctly) building my first high end bike. Drumroll please...though the setup isn't aggressive yet and the headtube needs to be cut down a bit more here goes....

She is an '08 585 Optimum size small
    built up with:
DA 7800 shiny bits (standard double, 12-27 climbing cassette)
Easton EA90 SLX wheels with Conti 4000s tires
    Bontrager VR 38 cm bars
    Zeus Cat III carbon stem
    Ritchey WCS carbon seatpost
Arundel sideloader bottlecages and Arundel Gecko tape

Even with the as-of-yet-un-upgraded Bontrager InForm saddle and Keo classic pedals she weighs in at a sweet 16 lbs even.

Riding her feels like dancing in a silk dress with a man you love. Only faster.

WOW!! What a beauty it turned out to be. I'm just drooling looking at it (which can be dangerous with a laptop ). I would wish you happiness, but you and I both know you don't need it. You'll have sooooo much fun riding that beauty.

Lovely, just lovely. If I had the money to just have a climbing bike, I'd get a Look 585 Optimum/Elle.

    16#!!!!! That's ridiculous.

    Sweet bike!
    Nice build choice too.
But why 'upgrade' the saddle? Weight? Color? Painful? Just curious as I just bought a white Bontrager InForm (the light weight one with very little padding) as an upgrade to my Aspide which has some crash damage. The 90 day return prompted me to give it a try.

Heck, I would be happy riding on a chunk of 2x4 wood, if it was on that bike!

    Many happy miles!

Glad yall liked the description! I have also decided that this bike makes me want to climb hills like a little gazelle. A little black flirty gazelle. I've still gotta work on my a** for this analogy to work though....

    Tzvia -
Oh, I'd just like to drop a little weight off of it and I'm not convinced its the most comfortable option out there. For the price though, the InForm is light and quite comfy! This bike deserves a saddle w/ braided carbon rails or Ti or something.

You're right though the pedals are a bigger deal though in terms of weight and performance.

It is a shame the Look Elle pedals are heavy because the blue matches. The bike is lovely!

    Super sexy!

That bike screams fast. I see a Specialized ruby saddle on it (my favorite). You have awesome taste in wheels, that was my last upgrade. Very nice.

Congrats! She is beautiful. I hope you have many safe and happy miles together.

I'm ready to ditch my aluminum frame road bike that doesn't fit me for carbon. I have been *lusting* after the 09 Elle ever since the line came out. I own the black/white/pink 09 pedal. It's on my dining room table atm. All I need now is the bike itself.

I'm curious, you own a size small? How tall are you and what's you inseam? (not that I need any encouraging factors towards my lust)

    Miranda, just PMed you but...

For the record, I'm 5'2 w/ a 31 inch inseam. I could have gone XS but didn't want to wait around Forever to find one...
