    Ode to my Peacoat

Ha! Thought you'd find something lyrical and poetic here, huh? I'm not that clever.

But I still loves me peacoat. It still has the manufacturer's tag: Brill Bros of Milwaukee, 23 Sept 1965. It's 43 years old, in beautiful condition, and the best thing I've ever found for warm comfort in extreme cold weather. We ran around doing errands yesterday in average temps of 4F with a blazing high of 7F. I was cozy all the time and never felt like that proverbial kid in a bunny suit where you can't bend an elbow. I have yet to find a modern parka that's as comfy or layers as well.

And the best thing about it? It's a US Air Force Academy issue wool coat from my 59 yr old "cadet", Class of 71. I feel like I'm wearing his letter jacket.

I think I'll go give Captain Bubba a big college co-ed type smooch.

At the current -4F you do whatever you need to do to stay warm.

Kind of reminds me of my Loden coat that I had as a kid in Michigan, that my Mom donated when we moved to Arizona. She foolishly thought I wouldn't need a coat anymore when we moved to the desert. I really miss that coat.

I love this. I have a vision of the co-ed smooch in my head now. I hope your right foot went up a little in back the way they do in the movies.

PS The OLD movies, that is. The movie rules...may...have....changed...

Are you suggesting that my cadet and I are getting old?
