    Discovered: Oatmeal Post-Cycling Heaven!

    Gals -
Yesterday I discovered the most amazing thing!

3 packets of Kashi GOLean Honey Cinnamon Instant Hot Cereal, cooked (takes 5 minutes of the microwave)

Plus - one steamed apple sliced.
Plus - a smidge of soymilk (I use silk creamer)
Plus - about 1 Tb of maple syrup.

I steamed the apple ahead of time in my microwave. After I got home COOOOLD and hungry I just had to nuke the Kashi cereal and then plunk in the apple, soy, and syrup. Ridiculously tasty and pretty much the perfect nutrition post ride (for me at least)

About 600 calories. Pretty much spot on 4 to 1 in terms of carbs to protein ration.

I often have oatmeal (my style, with brown sugar and dried cranberries and a banana) when I bike....but i always eat it before I ride, not after. I can't bear the idea of riding on empty!
Oatmeal or other whole grain hot cereal is an excellent food in so many respects.

Mmmmm, BSG, I am going to have to try the cranberries! My favorite way is with brown sugar, dates or some kind of fruit, and nuts. But I also chow down before a ride. I don't think I would make it very far if I didn't !

I use regular oatmeal & add cottage cheese for protein, raisins & top it with maple syrup. The cottage cheese sorta melts. Steel cut oats are good too but they take awhile to cook.
