I ate gravel during a thunderstorm!

So Saturday during my group ride, we got stuck in the middle of a thunderstorm. As we were approaching the closed down old store that has a really big awning (for shelter), the girl in front of me stopped really quickly. I knew I wouldn't be able to stop in time so to avoid hitting her and possibly injuring her, I laid my baby down and ate gravel. I didn't get hurt and the bike is ok, so just another story to tell about how I bit it during a thunderstorm!

That sucks Glad no one was hurt, and that your bike is OK! When things get scary (i.e. a thunderstorm coming), I think folks tend to forget things like signaling a stop.

I am glad you and the baby are okay. I have seen the same thing happen to more than one person at ride SAG stops.

Oh dear, I hope your teeth are fine. hehhe.. that was my first thought. I'm too literal. Glad everything was fine though.

last time I rode in a major thunderstorm the other lady with us slipped on a white road marking and fell INTO the direction of traffic. fortunately she was fine except for some scratches. She got up quick coz she was wearing regular shoes.

Asides from lightning, riding in the rain is fun. hehe.. its like swimming, but on a bike.!

Yikes! Glad both you and baby are OK!
I'm sorry you ate gravel, but it was nice of you to throw yourself down instead of possibly taking her down with you.

I am glad you and your bike are ok. I have heard the safest outdoor place to be during a Tstorm is close to the ground, but you didn't have to take it literally
