    Memorial Day Weekend ride?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Anyone up for a ride somewhere either on Saturday the 28th or Monday the 30th? We could do the aforementioned reservoirs loop in our neck of the woods. Or maybe the Woodside loop that we tried to do on President's day?

    Traveler's Question:

What is the distance of these routes and will you feed me well afterwards if I were to make the journey over there?

Have to do a cost-benefit analysis. Of course one of the biggest benefits is riding with all of the TE women! Y'all rock.

Well, the reservoirs loop is about 40 miles that we can add to by tooling around Gilroy a bit. However, if we add on the Almaden Reservoir/Hicks/Shannon/Kennedy climbing route, that probably adds another 15 miles or so... not totally sure.

I LOVE to cook and will make sure that anyone who comes to our house afterwards is well fed. We can discuss menu options. Blaine and I are partial to grilled pork tenderloin marinated in garlic, olive oil and rosemary and stuffed with prosciutto and provolone as a company barbeque thing. Any veggies out there? Other suggestions? We aim to please. (And I'll make sure to get the carrot cake I was talking about in another thread.)

I can ride on the 30th, but not the 28th. So if you plan something for that day, you can pretty much count me in. Since I start the AIDS ride the following weekend, I'd vote for a flat(ter) route than say Mt. Hamilton.

It's starting to warm up- this weekend temps forecast in the 90's inland. There go our green hills and wildflowers!

Oh no, not pork! Oh wait, it will be after the ride.

We had our teacher appreciation luncheon the day of our last Diablo ride. Pork was on themenu. It's being blamed for me wanting to hurl the entire climb. Or maybe it was the heat.

We wouldn't want you to go to a huge expense. Those of us who are local should be able to bring something to share. Yellow should just show up!

I can't commit to the ride yet. I may be in Napa that weekend.......
    Cheers!

I'm with Bike Goddess in that I could prob'ly ride one day or the other. Last minute training is great but I'm supposed to be in a rest period at that point, yeah, that's my excuse ;-) So should do some flatter rides.

Ack, panicking, have I trained enough? I've Done more miles than last year but is it enough? Guess we'll find out soon, stay tuned.

I'm interested, and the 30th should be OK.

Ditto CindySue's comment about cooking. I'm a vegetarian, but I still have really weird likes/dislikes (as in disliking many vegetables) and don't want SlinkeDog to go to a lot of trouble. Are there any places nearby where a bunch of grubby cyclists would be welcomed?

There's TONS of places close by. We could order out and bring it back to our place or go somewhere. There's a plethora of food choices all within about a 5 minute drive from my house.

Trek... I'd be more than happy to do an easy ride with you. I was going strong there for a while training for the Tierra Bella, and I really fell off afterwards. I struggled to do 26 miles relaitively flat miles last weekend, so if we do this ride, I'll be going very slowly.

Bummer! You know, we don't HAVE to do this ride over Memorial Day. We can do it for another time. It was just an idea. I want as many of us as possible to be able to make it.

No, no, you have lots of interested parties. There will be more opportunities, won't there? Is there some kind of deadline I don't know about? I think that if someone wants to volunteer to taste the local gourmet treats on my behalf we can declare the food calorie-free because you're doing it for a good cause.
