First snow ride of the season - w00t!
So I was reminded yesterday it was time for my winter avatar, and bing! today I earned it. After weeks of sunny golden autumn weather I woke up to -3C (27 F), a dusting of snow on the ground and a light snowfall swirling everywhere. Ok, time for my old faithful mtb with the studs on. Oooh, she is such a sweetie. Steady as a rock and such a comfy ride. Time for PI Amfib tights, winter shoes and PI lobster gloves. And I even remembered to add a pair of wool "granny panties" between the shorts and the tights, so no cold butt.
Sure, I was slower than sludge getting to work, but it is a such a joy to wheel smoothly and silently down a completely white hill, while the cars struggle in their massive line-up on the road 10 ft away. I'd forgotten that. I'd also forgotten how much snow stings around my eyes. Today I could've used some goggles. Stopped halfway and hiked my Buff up to avatar-position.
Got to work psyched up on endorphins, with time to spare since I wimped out and took the short way in, did a little weight training and went and sat in the brand new SAUNA we have here. At my desk now, limp as a noodle, drinking tea and looking out at the snowflurries. There is no better way to start the day
