I've never seen or even heard of these before today, when I noticed them at Wholefoods. I love kiwis, so I had to try them. They're soooo good! They have a little more zing than a regular kiwi, but really similar. They're about the size of grapes. You eat the whole thing, skin and all.

Might be okay, but it doesn't seem very pleasant!

kiwiberries sounds worthwhile to try. I've seen them at the market.
No, I don't think I'll be eating fuzzy part of ordinary kiwis.
They are awesome! I don't like the fizzy part of kiwi so these are just perfect though a bit expensive here.
I can't wait to try them!
thanks for the good news, i'll look for them.

If you ate kiwis here, you would be villified by the whole country... arrested, thrown in jail and the key probably never found...
Kiwis are our national icon... a flightless, nocturnal protected and much loved/adored/humoured bird, though not common and most NZers have only seen a kiwi in captivity. Even fewer have ever touched one.
And of course, the people who live here call themselves kiwis... I suppose some of us are fruity... some are fuzzy... some have brown skin... some feel a green round the gills (spesh after Friday or Saturday nights)... and some are pure gold on the inside...
But despite the many many orchards over here growing the fruits you speak of, no NZer calls them 'kiwis'...
Because we call and market these as kiwiFRUIT and kiwiberries...
And kiwifruit... mmmm, yummmm... I agree the fuzz on the green ones is not that good... though I do know quite a few people who eat the skins (I just don't like the way it feels in my mouth). The yellow ones you can eat skin and all - they have been bred fuzz-less.
I first saw kiwiberries last year, and tried one (though they looked rather strange to me). They are not bad, but I wouldn't pay the extra $$$$$ myself to have them instead of ordinary kiwifruit.
kiwifruit.... hmmmm yummmmoooo![]()
except lately I haven't been eating the fuzzy fruit.
They do grow them in North San Diego county. Gosh the vines ooze lot of sap. dirty!!! but the fruit is so good.
I just use a spoon and scoop it out. easy.
Oh Don't put in jello other fruit to avoid in jello fresh pinapple, mango, papaya !! Jello will not set! They all contain enyme that inhibits the pectin from setting.

I have to laugh about the fuzzy skin. The first time someone gave me one I ate it like an apple. To their horror... sort of like the lobster eating scene in Splash...
Nope, nope, nope! Not eating the funny walking birds or the funny talking folks, just the sweet green fruits with or without their fuzzy brown skins, TYVM!
