    Poking fun at myself

    Hi all!
First of all, I can't tell you how much I finally enjoyed being able to take Quinn out for a nice ride this weekend! Normally, i don't take my bike when I go home because my mom says, "How are you supposed to spend any time with us if you are gone for 1-2 hours on a bike?" But I just had to this time. I stayed with my sis so mom didn't know! hehe.
Anyway, I was reading something about cycling shoes and it made me laugh because I had a small mishap with mine. I haven't fallen over. I haven't forgotten to unclip. But I cannot WALK in these things! I have fallen down the steps from my apartment 3 times! My partner asked me why I have such trouble (as she patched up my elbow from where I scraped it against the brick on my way down the steps) and I told her I don't know! I can only assume that I can't walk in them for the same reason I can't walk in dress shoes. Grrr! I stopped wearing my cycling shoes because I can't walk in them and I've started riding my bike everywhere so that means I have to walk sometimes. I almost took a sliding header into a display at Kroger's one time in those things. Grrr!
Thought you might get a laugh out of that, I know I did.

Or just use regular shoes and old fashioned platform pedals.

What kind of shoes/pedals do you have?

When I had road shoes/Looks, I was constantly doing the duck walk/tap dance/stutter step when I had to take more than two steps off the bike.

SPDs/Specialized mountain shoes = much, much better for non-bike use!
I'll get back on the bike soon, I promise!

I'm getting new pedals as soon as I find shoes I can afford and walk in. I think my current ones are technically mountainbike shoes..they are sixsixone something or other. I bought them before I really started getting into this. Anyway, i'll get there slowly but surely.
Oh, and after riding Quinn today, I get why bike shorts are a necessity...I'll be getting some of those too. Maybe if I buy them when it starts to get cold I could find some on sale.
