I don't race so I must live vicariously through my husband. Yesterday he did his first mountain bike race in 3 years and his first in Cat 2 (he had been Cat 3). Out of 22 riders in his age group he got 8th! I was so proud of him. Of course when I saw him on the trail I really felt like he was holding back and could have been further up. In fact he was only 1 minute back on the 6th place and not even 30 seconds to 7th. In fact he was less than 6 minutes back on first which doesn't seem like a big gap in mountain bike racing. Plus the winner was 3 minutes up on second place time for someone to go Cat 1 I think! He admitted later he also thought he could have gone a bit harder, oh well there is always next race. He was pretty excited with his 8th place ribbon which was cool.
I took some photos but I don't know how the turned out, we'll see tonight.
