My bike has just been stolen!! I had stopped at the orchard at the back of the college where I work to pick some apples. This orchard is surrounded by a fence and a hedge and is totally overgrown. I thought it'd be out of the way enough so I tucked my bike in between some trees and started picking. When I found my way out of the trees again half an hour later, the bike was gone. Along with my panniers that were meant to hold all the apples which of course had my wallet and phone and train ticket. Luckily I caught one of my colleagues who lives near me as she was getting in her car so I could get a lift home. With no money or train ticket it would have been a very long walk home. Now I have to figure out how to replace everything. Puts a bit of a damper on my ALC training. But I'm trying to cheer myself up with the prospect of a new bike....

That really is rotten. I am so sorry for you. I do agree that people should keep their hands off things that don't belong to them.
Just a thought, you said you were picking in an orchard. Public orchard? My thinking was this, maybe the owner saw the bike, thought someone ditched it there and took it back to the office/main area? I doubt that is the answer but thought maybe, just maybe, there was a good samaritin out there and you could get your bike back.
good luck to you, hopefully your belongings come up from the now MIA file

Not a public orchard, though it isn't locked off. No owner who would be keeping and eye on the place. It is a neglected part of the college grounds, surrounded by countryside. I'll be heading down there tomorrow to have another look around just in case whoever took it, dumped it somewhere nearby.

Oh noooooo! That's your second bike theft experience

I feel like this is MY bike since I helped you choose it.

Check your phone bill when you get it. Few of these morons can resist a cell phone. Then you have who they call and who calls them.

I hate this Dang, I liked that bike, got to see you ride it in each day on ALC 6. Let me know if there's any way we can help and I hope you get it back (right after you buy the new one so you have 2).

    Awwwww man!
I'm soooo very sorry that some jerk stole your bike! What a creep. I hope he was riding it, hit a groove in the road that flipped him off the bike and landed him on his noggin (and I say he because let's face it: most crime is committed by men).

I hope you can get your bike back, or that at the least you'll get a new ride that will make you just as happy (although it can never replace your lost one).

    I'm sorry, UK elephant.
