    Oct. 3rd rides

You know it's windy when I start channeling Johnny Rotten! "Anarchy in the UK" was playing in my head for the entire ride.

The crosswind gusts were kind of scary. It was really all I could do to stay upright. I felt like I was listing sideways, as in at an angle to the ground. The tailwind was fun, and lucky for me, it was working its magic on the uphills.

I did my short ride, which usually takes me an hour and ten minutes, in just an hour. I was flying.

As fun as it sounds, it was kind of an awful ride. I got a face full of blowing sand, which luckily missed my eyes. The fear of falling over was a bit much. But, I'm glad I went.

    How was your ride?

I will be riding after work today but it has been crazy windy here lately!!

Yesterday I though for sure that I was having a lousy ride because of it, but it really wasnt bad when I checked my computer.

Oh I am not a riding in the wind fan, good job Red.

I will be playing in the dirt this evening, meaning starting a landscape project. I am impatient so I want to get working tonight instead of waiting for tomorrow morning.

33.75 miles - 2 hours riding time. I started out at 9.30 am, with a temp of 47 degrees. Brrr! That's cold on a bike, I discovered! lol! Thank goodness I had finally obtained a pair of arm warmers. The only bad part is, I tend to get that cough after exercising in cold air. Sigh.

It warmed up through the ride, and was simply gorgeous!!

DH and I played hooky from work and did the Icicle metric century route. It's a ride put on by our local cycling club every March in the hills of SE PA and NE MD. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the route markers were still visible on the roads- made for easy navigating. It was awfully windy, but a windy day on the bike is still better than a good day in the office!

So. Yesterday I said "I will get out before 7:30" and it was 8:45 and so I could only do the 14 mile commute

Today I have to be at work an hour earlier, adn I said "I will get out before 6:30" ... and it was 6:43... but the wind was better and I *hauled* and got the 18 mile version. *And* I snuck out at lunch for another 4.5 miles.
Then a few laps around campus and home via two attempts to bank but it was closed.
Feels good to be home by 7 with 30+ miles on a workday!
    And tomorrow is Saturday

Just under 10 miles of errand-running here... That 1 mile from the grocery to home into a stiff head wind with full panniers (and backpack) was not fun. But the apple pie made from some of those groceries is *awesome*!

    Pretty scenery, tennisgirl!

Sounds like everyone had some fun out there today.
I rode downtown to the Race for the Cure, hung around while some friends ran the 5K (no running for me today), then rode back home. Only about 26 miles, but it was fun.
Both of my moms (step and birth) are survivors, so I always get all teary eyed at the RFTC. What a fun event, tho!
The pic is of the roses given to the survivors at the finish.

Oops- just realized this was the thread for the 3rd, not the 4th. Oh well.
