I have the cheapy performance shorts for spinning and they've done fine by me. You are right, you can get them very cheaply. So I have a stash of them that I use for spinning and some short rides on the road as well. No real complaints.![]()

REI and Performance Bike are running some pretty good prices on Bike Shorts. The prices are all over the place. I bought some capris this spring from REI that were $70 (fortunately I had their 20% off coupon). I also bought a pair of Giant Shorts at the Giant LBS that were half price -- $25. I absolutely love both pairs. I rode quite a few miles in both and have worn them to spinning classes and have not any any problems. But . . . I am sick of washing them all the time. I would like to get a few more pairs and wondering if anyone has ever bought the really inexpensive shorts that REI and Performance Bike carries. Would they get me through a spinning class? Seeing as I have two satisfactory pairs, I don't need any special.

I never use bike shorts for spinning classes, and have never had a problem. I just wear regular workout shorts. Classes are only an hour long, so I don't really need that extra padding. Have you tried just regular workout shorts?
I really like the cheap shorts from Trashy Cat for spin class. I think the material is really comfortable. I have actually worn them on long rides too and they were fine. They usually ship out the same day I order from them.
