Depends on what you mean by "taking with you."
All my bike stuff lives in a cheap mesh backpack. It's great because being mesh, it ventilates, so I can just throw sweaty shoes, helmet, gloves, arm warmers etc. in and they will dry. So when I drive to the start of a ride, which is most of the time, I can just pick up the backpack and know that everything's in there. It has two compartments plus a flat zippered compartment, so I can sort stuff by size and keep it more or less organized.
But if you're talking about something suitable for travel, then you'd need something to protect your helmet. I think I'm just going to throw the backpack into a hardshell suitcase for my trip next week, but I'll still need to separate the helmet from the shoes.
